Oates makes good games and this is no exception. Haven’t beaten it yet but it is enjoyably spooky with a retail motif that speaks to me. Combat is interesting in that all real attacks take money and so you have to scrimp and save where you can to avoid bankrupting yourself, and your employees are basically cannon fodder to be used and abused (leans very hard into that retail motif). If its anything like their other games it

probably has a couple endings requiring bizarre side stuff to unlock, but its probably short enough its not a huge issue. Highly recommend along with their other games. Edit: Finished it, did indeed have multiple endings. Was in fact a good game. Oates, you definitely have done time in the retail hellscape haven’t you? :V If you’re into spooky spaces, fun party-building, interesting puzzles with deep world-building, and, of course, money bags and cleaning materials, you’ll love this!

This game was awesome. It really gave me some kind of creepy nostalgia I didn’t think I’d ever remember about working these kinds of jobs in these kinds of companies that just treat workers like disposable tools. Love how the mechanics kind of force you to make the manager treat your workers as disposable too. The environments and situations are really great, bite-sized liminal spaces conveyed in pixel form. The puzzles can range from simply having the right cleaning material to store-spanning item hunts that really make you go “oh, I know just where to use that” all the time! The puzzles can be a little too cryptic sometimes, but a thorough check through your options

can usually reveal a path. Though the combat is great thematically, I think RPGMaker kind of limited how complex the game could be. Same for all the overworld interactions. Would’ve been great if there was something more fun to do for cleaning instead of just mashing A, for example, or a more efficient way to use the items you get instead of opening the menu constantly, but not sure how many options there were with this engine.
